Oh, The Joys of Being A Kid….

This past week, my husband and I watched three of our grandsons. We had endless days of watching them play, swim, run, giggle, jump, and just be typical kids.

What a blessing it is to be a grandparent! We get to love them, play with them, sing with them, and laugh with them. They are so full of wonder and excitement. They don’t have a tainted view of the world. Their world is what you present to them. If you show them love and encouragement, they feel loved and confident. But if you show them anger and resentment, they will feel anxious and rejected. As adults, we shape their world and their world view.

I want my children and my grandchildren to feel excited about their future. I want them to be bold and strong. I want the grandchildren to anticipate what they want to be when they grow up. I don’t want them to worry about the world around them and how crazy everything seems today. I want them to know that they are loved unconditionally, no matter what.

As a Christian, this is how I imagine our Heavenly Father’s desire is for us. He wants us to be strong and courageous. He wants us to feel His love and His favor. He wants us to know that when we are smiling, laughing, and enjoying our life, He is smiling and enjoying our happiness as well. He wants us to experience everything on this earth that we can experience. He has such wonderful plans and purposes for our lives. In Jeremiah 29:11, it says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Knowing that I am loved unconditionally, no matter what, gives me such peace. I can rest in the hope and the future that God has prepared for me. I can run at life as if I were a small child experiencing all the joys and excitements that this world has to offer for the very first time. I can be confident in God’s love and care for me. I can love my life and enjoy it to the fullest!

Here at The Beautiful Basics, we are cheering you on. We want you to love and enjoy your life and to experience everything God has for you. We love you guys!
