Our First Mother-Daughter Conference...

Our first, Beautiful Basics Conference was held in the fall of 2019.

I wanted to write a blog and let people know how it went, giving others a better understanding of what we do as a ministry team and how we impact the lives of those around us for the glory of God.

As we drove to our first event, I told my mom that I was so nervous that I thought I was going to throw up in her car. She graciously told me that speaking in front of people is no big deal and that it wasn’t about us anyways. It was about God’s love and healing message flowing through us.

I took a deep breath and felt the Lord close to me and I knew there was no turning back.

Once we arrived at the church, we held hands to pray and then began our set-up for the first session. We displayed our ministry sign, set up our product table, laid out the class handouts, and prepared the PowerPoint slides for the teachings.

People began arriving and I was filled with joy! Not only did more people show up than we thought, there were ladies of all ages: small children, teenagers with their moms, grandparents, and great grand-parents.

We kicked off our first session with our testimonies. My mom has an amazing gift to tell her childhood trauma with grace and dignity and she tied it all together with a beautiful bow of God’s forgiveness and redemption.

I followed her by telling my testimony of unhealthy relationships, drug and alcohol abuse, and the abortion I had in my late teens.

We got to tell everyone how the Lord healed our broken hearts and mended our damaged relationship.

We shared the healing power of Jesus Christ and that His healing isn’t just for the physical body but it is for the soul and mind as well.

The first night ended with an altar call and prayer. I was so excited that people had given their hearts to the Lord! That was a rush of joy I hadn’t experienced before!

We also had the honor to pray with mothers that wanted mended relationships with their children and others that just wanted words of encouragement. God’s breathe of hope filled the room the first night in ways I never dreamed possible.

Each session of the conference began with my mom speaking her life-long wisdom on the topics of: Identity in Christ, Hearing God’s Voice, and The Influence of a Godly Woman.

And after she spoke, I came on stage behind her and did a practical application of everything she talked about.

We applied this same technique to each class throughout the day.

What makes our ministry unique is not only the fact that we are a mother-daughter team, but we have dynamically different personalities.

She brought wisdom and elegance to each session and I brought a light-hearted energy to close out each class.

We ended the conference with a fun biblical meditation class that involved snacks, coffee, markers and music.

There was worship in between each of our sessions by the beautiful pastor and members of her local church.

Our first conference was better than I ever could have imagined!

I’m so grateful that the Lord took all the painful things from our past and worked it all out for His glory.

I can’t tell you how much doing ministry with my mom means to me, but what I am most grateful for is a mom that chose forgiveness. None of this would be happening if she didn’t make the choice to give it all to the Lord and allow Him to guide her daily.

Now, here I am, trying to learn from her while she’s a beaming example of God’s love, grace and influence.

I hope I never forget the power of a testimony and the healing and hope it can bring.

Revelation 12:11 They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death

That’s a little taste of our first conference and a little bit about our heart and where God is leading us.

We are so excited for 2020!

We are cheering you and your entire family on, and we pray your New Year will be full of open doors and blessings!

Much love,

Jenn Simmons
