THE HIDDEN...
This morning, I was rearranging my morning room table, and as I pulled it out of the center of the room I noticed all kinds of dust, debris, and particles hiding. I had not moved that table in years so the hidden dust and debris had probably been there for quite some time, maybe even years. As I was sweeping it up and mopping that area, I felt the Lord speak to my heart, “this is how hidden sin stays hidden for so long.” We sweep around it, we overlook it; we don’t see it forming because it has recessed under something large and pretty. It is not always evident to the naked eye but it is still there. God sees it even if we don’t. In Mark 4:22, “For everything that is hidden will eventually be brought into the open, and every secret will be brought to light.”
Sometimes we let the small sins in our life fester under a pretty exterior of doing and working for the Lord. Small sins can lead to quite a nest of trash if we are not careful. Sins like: pride, envy, strife, anger, or even bitterness. We have to ask the Lord to reveal to us the intent of our heart so that we can properly assess our motives. The following scripture has always been a favorite of mine, especially when I am doing some deep soul-searching.
Psalm 139:23-24, (ESV)
Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!
If you have been hiding things deep within you and you think that nobody can see, they may not, but God sees, and God cares very deeply for us. His desire is for us to walk rightly before Him. You never know what God will reveal to you if you will only stop and ask, then listen.
Here at The Beautiful Basics we are cheering you on. Please know you are loved!
