Welcome to the family...
Summertime is always an exciting time with lots of family adventures which include: vacations, Grand Camp (special time with our grandsons), swimming, golfing, camping, and of my favorite things in the summer are the weddings. I love weddings. I love seeing people in love come together sharing their lives together. I love the smell of flowers and all the wonderful food that goes along with weddings. But mostly, I love the wonderful excitement in the eyes of the bride and groom, with dreams of never ending marital happiness and bliss.
This week I attended a wedding shower of a very special young lady that was getting married soon. It was more than just a normal shower. It was a celebration of this young lady and her future husband joining their lives together. We ate together, laughed together, prayed together, shared stories of how we knew this young lady and her fiancé, and we got a special sneak peek of the wedding dress (absolutely gorgeous!). She shared how we were part of her family and how each one had impacted her life in a positive way. We cried tears of joy listening and feeling the love flowing in the room. It was magical! It was a gift from God. It was as if God was smiling and saying, “Welcome to the family!”
My husband and I have been married for forty-two years. It has been the best forty-two years of my life. Was there always happiness and smiles? No, but there was this deep sense of knowing that I am loved and wanted even when things were hard or difficult. I knew that he and I belonged to a family…our family! It was our very own special family with ups and downs, happiness and tears, excitement and disappointments, stressful days and days of laughter filled with joy.
Family is a gift from God. He knew that we needed each other. We needed to belong to someone. We needed to have a very special connection that no matter how tough life gets, we would have people that are encouraging us and cheering us on, who genuinely want the best for us. They want us to succeed!
That is how our heavenly Father sees us too. When we become a part of the family of God, we become brothers and sisters in Christ. When you make that decision to accept Jesus into your heart and life, He opens His arms out wide, smiles and says, “Welcome to the family, the family of God!”
John 1:12, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,”
Ephesians 1:5, “In love, He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—
The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,
Here at The Beautiful Basics, we are cheering you on; we are saying, “Welcome to the family!”
